Mulethi (Glycyrrhiza glabra) thrives in temperate to subtropical climates, making Kashmir an ideal location.

It prefers deep, well-drained sandy loam to clayey soil with a slightly alkaline pH (6-8).
The plant requires moderate rainfall and cold winters, both of which are naturally present in Kashmir.

Mulethi is propagated mainly through root cuttings or seeds.The best time for planting in Kashmir is spring (March-April) or early monsoon (July-August).
