The Jammu and Kashmir Medicinal Plants Introduction Centre (Pvt.Sector) in Pulwama has started trail of Hing (Ferula asafoetida) in the Jammu and Kashmir.
Ferula asafoetida is an oleo-gum-resin obtained from the exudates of the roots of the Iranian endemic medicinal plant, F. asafoetida. It is used widely all over the world as a flavoring spice in a variety of foods.
Asafoetida may help lower blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels. However, research is limited to animals . Potential anticancer effects. Animal and test-tube studies suggest that asafoetida may help stop the growth and spread of certain cancer cells, including breast and liver cancer.
