Saussurea costus (syn. Saussurea lappa) is a perennial medicinal herb belonging to the family Asteraceae. It is native to the Himalayan region, especially Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, and is highly valued in Unani, Ayurveda, Tibetan, and Chinese medicine.
